Can I come and have a go?
Yes. New shooters are welcome to come and have a go. We call our try outs or having a go a "Come and Try' (CAT's)

We hold "Come & Try's" the First  Saturday of each month.

Start time for "Come and Try" is 9:30 am (we will get going as fast as possible, however a bit of paper work needs to be completed before we start, so we like new shooters to be here by 9:15am).

Cost:-  $40.00 per person, all equipment and coaching supplied (Sorry Cash Only - you can use a bank transfer before hand or transfer on the day ).

Location:- Brisbane Small Bore Rifle Club is located at the Brisbane International Shooting Centre (BISC) - Within  the Belmont Shooting Complex :- Turn Left off Old Cleveland Road into the shooting complex - Follow the road to the end and turn Left into Pistol Parade, turn first right into Cadden Drive - BISC is on your left. Entry to the complex is though the glass doors as you drive up to the building.

You can find a Map on the  located page.

How does it work

First the paper work is done,  followed by a safety briefing. Then shooters are assigned a mentor to supervise their shooting.

First you will shoot 25 rounds of ammunition at a target on 50 metres range from a laying postion prone or from a bench in a seated postion if you can not lay down.

Second you  shoot 25 rounds from an "Air Rifle" from a supported postion standing on the 10 meter range.

To organise your first shoot,  email us, email address is on the contacts page . You do need to contact us prior to showing up. We need time to organise your mentor and equipment.

or  If you just want to have a look, drop in any Saturday between 08:30 am and 10:00 am and the "Range Safety Officer" (yellow vest) will assit you.,

What do you wear to have a shoot:-  Long sleeved shirt or jacket and trousers ,shorts. Enclosed shoes (runners etc)

You will need Photo ID.

Age limit? Yes, you must be over 11 years old and if you are under 18 years old you must have a parent or guardian with you.

We will email you a reminder email the week of the come and try with general information about Target Rifle shooting and Safety.

We do not allow the General Public to come to the range and shoot unless they have attended a “Come and Try Day first. We do allow come and try shooters to return and shoot with our club (they pay normal club rates $15.00 plus ammunition of three weeks, then it increases to $40.00 per shoot unless they have joined our club).
